Background information of the City of Thousand Oaks:

The City of Thousand Oaks is one of the most quaint, elegant places in beautiful Ventura County. Boasting nearly 15,000 square acres of publicly owned open-space with over 75 miles of trails, Thousand Oaks provides that magnificent sense of getting away from it all, at a distance still just minutes from both Los Angeles and Santa Barbara alike. Thousand Oaks can be found a mere 12 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean, in the heart of the Conejo Valley. Here, the City receives the cool breezes that help to sustain an average high temperature between 68° and 82° year-round. Additionally, the City averages over 300 days of sunshine each year with approximately only 15 days of total rainfall. Year after year, the community within Thousand Oaks focuses on bettering the already pristine lifestyles of the families who live there.

The Conejo Recreation & Park District offers approximately 2,500 programs each year geared from organized sports to leisure art classes, and everything in between. In addition, numerous Country Clubs offering golf, tennis, and swimming amenities are located in the City of Thousand Oaks. Sunset Hills Country Club, Westlake Tennis & Swim Club, and North Ranch Country Club are also located in the Conejo Valley, and offer unmatched professional facilities of their own. The newly remodeled Oaks Shopping Mall offers 140 specialty shops; from custom boutiques, to Nordstrom's and Macy's. Just down the road from the mall, visitors can also shop at the Janss Marketplace. By just traveling a few miles further, you can shop and dine in The Lakes, The Promenade at Westlake, and Northgate Plaza.

The nationally recognized Conejo Valley Unified School District offers some of the State's highest rated teaching and performance standards available to our children today. With a school choice system also available, parents and their children have the freedom to select which elementary, middle, or high school is right for them.

Thousand Oaks has for years been one of the safest cities in the United States. Based on the FBI's statistics, a City spokesman reported in June 2008 that the City of Thousand Oaks has been ranked 5th safest city in the nation for populations exceeding 100,000.
